{"id":833,"date":"2009-02-03T17:39:36","date_gmt":"2009-02-03T22:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iomaire.com\/?p=833"},"modified":"2009-02-03T22:16:38","modified_gmt":"2009-02-04T03:16:38","slug":"this-could-be-interesting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iomaire.com\/index.php\/2009\/02\/03\/this-could-be-interesting\/","title":{"rendered":"This Could Be Interesting &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It appears that General David Petraeus and President Barack Obama have a difference of opinion over the timeline for withdrawal of troops from Iraq.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipsnews.net\/news.asp?idnews=45640\">Here<\/a> is an interesting article, by Gareth Porter, that appeared on the Inter Press Service News Agency website .<\/p>\n<p>On April 10, 1951, President Harry Truman fired General Douglas McArthur as Commander-in-Chief of the Far East over a dispute over who had final authority over foreign policy.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalsecurity.org\/military\/library\/report\/1992\/MJA.htm\">Here<\/a> is a short synopsis of that dispute.<\/p>\n<p>This could get interesting.  President Bush loved to swagger about and brag about his powers as the Commander-in-Chief.  Now, there is a new sheriff in town.  Is anyone willing to make a bet on who will win this battle?  My personal take on the conflict is that General Petraeus is walking on some very thin ice.
