{"id":2196,"date":"2011-05-12T18:59:13","date_gmt":"2011-05-12T22:59:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iomaire.com\/?p=2196"},"modified":"2011-05-13T21:43:02","modified_gmt":"2011-05-14T01:43:02","slug":"what-has-changed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iomaire.com\/index.php\/2011\/05\/12\/what-has-changed\/","title":{"rendered":"What Has Changed?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On April 4, 1967, one year before he was murdered, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered a speech entitled <em>Beyond Vietnam &#8211; A Time to Break Silence<\/em> before the members of the congregation of Riverside Church in New York City.  In it, he delivered a powerful rebuke to the leadership of the nation, a leadership which had decided that violence would produce victory in Vietnam.  Subsequent events proved Dr. King prescience.<\/p>\n<p>A little over a week ago, Obama declared that the death of Osama bin Laden was a victory for America.  Was it really?  Read Dr. King&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanrhetoric.com\/speeches\/mlkatimetobreaksilence.htm\"> speech<\/a> (it is rather long) and decide for yourself.  What has changed after 44 years?<\/p>\n<p>I wish that a Christian pastor in this country would decide that now, too, is a time to break silence.
