On Bin Laden
Do not gloat when your enemy falls;
when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice,
or the LORD will see and disapprove
and turn his wrath away from them.
Proverbs 24:17-18
“We can no longer afford to worship the god of hate or bow before the altar of retaliation. The oceans of history are made turbulent by the ever-rising tides of hate. And history is cluttered with the wreckage of nations and individuals that pursued this self-defeating path of hate.”
– Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I guess that’s why I feel a little guilty–because I am jumping for joy that we killed him! I’m sorry. Maybe it’s because I was up there when 9-11 happened and I saw and smelled the smoke. My real estate agent’s husband was killed in one of the buildings. I grew up looking at that skyline. What I hate is what that evil piece of crap did. He’s lucky he didn’t get way worse than death. I’d like to say I’m more evolved than this, but I’m not. And I feel pretty good right now!
Very appropriate quotes both, Jeff—thank you for them. I can’t say I was sad to see the end of such a hateful and destructive man, but I certainly wasn’t jubilant when I heard the news. In fact, I felt quite sober.
