Election 2010
The American electorate, like a three-year-old child, threw a temper tantrum yesterday and jumped right back into the swamp that they were in two years ago. Now that the Republicans control the House and have narrowed the lead of the Democrats in the Senate, will they suddenly transform from the Party of No into the Party of Yes? I doubt it. But one thing that they will have to do is to stop throwing rocks, because they are now living in a glass house. Soon enough, they will either prove or disprove Eldridge Cleaver’s famous saying, “You’re either part of the solution or part of the problem.”
My bet is that the Republicans, along with the Democrats, are part of the problem and that Republicans who persist in yelling “No!” will get tossed out in 2012, along with President Obama. I have yet to learn of a three-year-old who can make a rational decision – do you know of one?
*Sigh* Yes, the results were pretty much what I expected, though I was pleased that at least a couple of the folks I voted for were re-elected. Of course, I’d have to say that even they were just the “lesser of evils.”
I really enjoyed your election day joke and the signs—it was nice to have something to laugh about. Thanks, Jeff.
