It appears that General David Petraeus and President Barack Obama have a difference of opinion over the timeline for withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Here is an interesting article, by Gareth Porter, that appeared on the Inter Press Service News Agency website .

On April 10, 1951, President Harry Truman fired General Douglas McArthur as Commander-in-Chief of the Far East over a dispute over who had final authority over foreign policy. Here is a short synopsis of that dispute.

This could get interesting. President Bush loved to swagger about and brag about his powers as the Commander-in-Chief. Now, there is a new sheriff in town. Is anyone willing to make a bet on who will win this battle? My personal take on the conflict is that General Petraeus is walking on some very thin ice. I’m putting my money on President Obama, a former professor of Constitutional law at the University of Chicago.

  1. I’d put my money on President Obama, too. I do hope he doesn’t yield to their pressure. How creepy to think that Petraeus and his minions are already working behind the scenes to try to discredit President Obama if he doesn’t go along with them.
