Time For a Breather
I’m of that certain age to reminisce about bygone days when times were not as complex as they are today. Everyone has favorite songs from their childhood and I have many. From the wacky (Purple People Eater by Sheb Wooley, Ahab the Arab by Ray Stevens, They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa! by Napoleon XIV) to Country (most any cut by Patsy Cline), to folk (Kingston Trio, Peter Paul and Mary), to pop (Deep Purple by Nino Tempo and April Stevens, I’m Sorry by Brenda Lee, Don’t Make Me Over by Dionne Warwick) …. Sure, I like contemporary music also, but I suppose the older music brings back associated memories of days gone by.
Here is one of my all-time favorites, Unchained Melody, by the Righteous Brothers:
That multi-octave part near the end just gets me everytime I hear it!

Bobby Hatfield, 1965, really brings back memories (I was a junior in high school). They had many other very good songs like “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling”. This is the song (Unchained Melody) that makes ’em or breaks ’em on music talent shows.
I LOVED the Righteous Brothers too.
I wasn’t able to listen to the video as I have dial-up, but I can certainly relate to what you say about loving the older music. When I listen to music that played on the radio in the sixties, I am always struck by its innocence compared to much of the profane stuff that plays these days. So much of the old music had a sense of hope about it…
